Announcement

Current development in Canggu that might impact your stay

Canggu, once the sleepy coastal village, is a fast growing destination not to be missed. Canggu was chosen as one of the 10 coolest destinations to visit in 2019 by the British publication, The Sun. We are pleased with this endorsement, but as we know it has been well discovered by surfers, tourists and expats alike.  They are drawn by the many new venues popping up every week. From the humble beach bars, to the hip new nightspots and pool clubs, Canggu covers the whole spectrum.

Whilst Canggu still offers both traditional rice paddy fields as well as relaxing beaches, maintaining its distinctive character, there is no doubt that the crowds are quickly discovering the area.

Some noise emanating from the streets, nearby construction, as well as music from neighborhood bars, is occasionally audible during the night in some of our villas.

Before committing to your experience at Ametis Villa, please feel free to contact us directly for the latest update and advice.

Sincerely,

Akiko Yoshioka

Being A Part of Good Cause

Ametis-Villa Bali Acts Empowers Indonesian Women in Need by Sourcing Sustainable Hand-Woven Goods

At Ametis-Villa Bali, we are delighted to announce that we are further intensifying our Corporate Social Responsibility efforts. With the New Year well and truly underway, we are now more committed than ever to give back to people in need and adopt more sustainable hospitality practices.

We feel morally obliged to make a difference in whatever way possible, and our latest action has been toconnect like-minded suppliers who share our vision. This led us to Du’Anyam, a social enterprise that produces and distributes wicker craftsto empower women, promote Indonesian culture, and improve the health conditions in rural areas.

Each unit at Ametis-Villa Bali now features eco-friendly items such as reusable shopping bags and slippers that have been hand-woven by women from Flores Island, East Nusa Tengara.Made from all-natural Palmyra leaves, these convenient in-villa amenities are a direct result of Du’Anyam’s alternative employment program that supports the practice of traditional wicker weaving.

The sale of these products ultimately helps provide an additional source of income for pregnant women in remote villages who would otherwise be working as farm hands, and thus leaving themselves open to the risk of miscarriage. Under the guidance of Du’Anyam, they now have access to better nutrition, health services and can support their families by using creative skills rather than hard labor.

Our Boutique Resort, Ametis Villa-Bali is the preferred accommodation option for savvy travelers seeking the serenity of Canggu as an alternative to the urban sprawl of Seminyak. The property offers a unique concept of home-style luxury that goes above and beyond all expectation. Apart from providing guests with an enriching holiday experience, one thing that also matters to us is contributing to a worthy cause. Our collaboration with a hope-driven venture such as Du’Anyam is all about lifting people up from the cycle of poverty and giving them the dignitary, which is indeed a precious gift.

Restaurant Renovation Update

The building team is working hard to complete the project but some unforeseen challenges have forced us to delay the opening date. At this stage we are anticipating opening in early to mid January at the latest.

In December the scope of work has shifted to the interiors (structural work has been completed) therefore there should not be any noise impact during your stay. In Villa dining remains unchanged, available from 7am to 11pm.

We are very excited about the new restaurant offering at Ametis and apologise for any inconvenience caused.

Should you have any concerns about your upcoming stay at Ametis, please contact us for the latest update and information at info@ametisvilla.com

We are committed to making your stay with us memorable and above expectations.

Bali Cultural Ceremony and Ritual | Ametis Villa Bali’s Odalan

Bali is renowned for its bright and richly cultural ceremonies, and any visitor who spends more than a few days on the island will be certain to see some kind of temple festival, a colorful procession, or might be a ritual. There are also numerous island-wide religious festivals to mark sacred days according to the Balinese calendar, together with family rituals such as birth celebrations, tooth filing ceremonies, weddings and cremations.

The Odalan itself, or temple anniversary celebration, is a lavish ceremony commemorating the founding of the temple, and as each Odalan date varies from one temple to another. All kinds of religious icons and precious objects, parasols, effigies, and huge ‘wayang landung’ puppets are paraded around the temple in a feast of bustle and colour, while decorations ranging from the bizarre to the brilliant adorn the temple walls. The women create astonishing temple offerings in the form of soaring pyramids of fruit, rice cakes and flowers, ornamented with coconut-leaf decorations. These are brought to the temple in long and spectacular processions with the women carrying the offerings on their heads.

On 30th of August 2018, Ametis Villa Bali celebrate The Odalan, all of department has involved to create a pyramid of fruit, we called as “Gebogan”. The day before, all of staff sends one of them to do cleaning blitz around the villa area. At the end of the ceremony they pick up the offerings and bring them home to share them with their family.
