Awareness of Dental Health for Children

It brought our attention that the awareness of dental health in Indonesia is still low compared to other countries.

As a part of this year’s CSR program with the concept of “We grow together with local community”, we held  the dental event for children at Widya Puspita Kindergarten, on Friday, 27 September 2019 in order to increase the awareness of dental health from early age.

Supported by other establishments, Mandiri Health Care and Bhakti Vedanta Medical, and Dr. Gede Agung Wirakrama or Dr. Doni, we educated kindergarten students to understand the importance of daily dental care. 63 students who attended this event received a pack of tooth brush, paste, and a small toy (to make them happy and funJ) before Dr. Doni started introducing how and why brushing tooth is important, and gave a practice to the students on brushing the teeth correctly.

Before ending the dental class, students had quiz from Saviestri-Human Resources Manager of Ametis Villa Bali, to test their understanding. Winners received tumblr as gift. As one of our luxury lifestyle private villa in Canggu, Ametis Villa Bali will bring more positive ambiance and influence people to improve better future. Start from small thing to the big things in the future.

Signed up The KOMITMEN Initiative for Making Bali Plastic-Free!

Surrounded by the sea, Bali is well known as the most popular island in Indonesia archipelago. It has varied landscape and fine sandy beaches, a perfect paradise for surfers and divers around the world.

Canggu Beach

But lately, a bunch of plastic waste found on the Bali’s beaches areas. This phenomenon attracts many attentions from people around the world as it impacts its tourism. Bali is seriously facing plastic pollution crisis. Responding to this case, the idea of plastic waste management has been created by some of stakeholders in Bali.

The Komitmen initative is one of the waste management programs in Bali, launched by One Island One Voice (OIOV). It was 7 years ago, when the founder Melati Wijen was just 12 years old and first she asked Bali to say goodbye to plastic bags. Through OIOV’s latest initiative Komitmen, OIOV collaborates with individuals, organization, companies and even government to reduce plastic usage from individual’s daily activities and any business operations.

The Komitmen

On 23rd June 2019, finally great movement was taken in whole Bali after huge effort and approach by OIOV, that the usage of all single use plastic bag has been prohibited in Bali, announced by the governor.

Ametis Villa has signed up the Komitmen Initiative on 7th August 2019 to commit to achieve the action to support and protect the environment in Bali. We started from reducing the usage of plastic, such as no single use plastic cups nor straws, replacing plastic bag with biodegradable bags, and separate organic and inorganic waste. Villa is planning to replace all plastic drinking water bottles to refill pure healthy drinking water in all guests villas. It’s not easy to commit to say no single use plastic. Nothing can be done without support by like-minded local organizations.

Moreover, Ametis conducts regular coastal beach cleaning corporate with surrounding business establishments. As villa is located in the most hypest Bali Beach, Batu Bolong Canggu, preventing beach from the pollution is our highest concern. OIOV’s Bali’s biggest beach clean up was taken place for a third year in a row, on 16 February 2019, and Ametis also took a part. OIOV gathered many volunteers and companies locally and internationally. Most volunteer are coming from Indonesia, with the youngest coordinator aged 12 and the oldest 64. This year clean up action gathered 13,000 people in 150 locations and collected over 30 tons of plastic.

Founder of OVOI, Melati Wijsen says ‘we are working towards 1000 business to join the KOMITMEN by end of this year’.

Do you commit?

It’s very important for individuals to start the initiative which will create huge changes to keep our island clean for our future generation. Visit OIOV’s website to find out more information.

It all started when one of our security staff I Wayan Suarmajaya brought a sponsorship proposal to management in mid of May. Wayan is one of the Sadana Youth Camp Committee.

Ni Luh Laksmi, one of the students who participated in the camp, said, “I can make new friends, learn how to become more discipline, consider the environment, each one develops love and dignity, and a feeling of respect for their parents. It’s great study. ”

I Wayan Widana, Laksmi ’s father, said, “By participating in this camp and developing spiritual knowledge, my daughter was able to build a better humanity. She has been more self-reliant, washing the dishes by herself, cleaning the bed, etc. Mobile phone was not allowed during this camp, so her mobile phone usage was decreased. It seems that the recitation of the poetry has given her a very good experience of not only knowledge but also the original humanity. “

Current development in Canggu that might impact your stay

Canggu, once the sleepy coastal village, is a fast growing destination not to be missed. Canggu was chosen as one of the 10 coolest destinations to visit in 2019 by the British publication, The Sun. We are pleased with this endorsement, but as we know it has been well discovered by surfers, tourists and expats alike.  They are drawn by the many new venues popping up every week. From the humble beach bars, to the hip new nightspots and pool clubs, Canggu covers the whole spectrum.

Whilst Canggu still offers both traditional rice paddy fields as well as relaxing beaches, maintaining its distinctive character, there is no doubt that the crowds are quickly discovering the area.

Some noise emanating from the streets, nearby construction, as well as music from neighborhood bars, is occasionally audible during the night in some of our villas.

Before committing to your experience at Ametis Villa, please feel free to contact us directly for the latest update and advice.

Sincerely,

Akiko Yoshioka
